Alice Forgy Kerr (R-Lexington) has served the 12th District of the Kentucky State Senate since 1999, representing Fayette County.

Senator Kerr chairs the Senate Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee, and is chairman of the Senate Sub-Committee on Post-Secondary Education. She also serves as a member on the Appropriations and Review (state budget); Education; Health and Welfare, and State and Local Government standing committees; and the Budget Review Subcommittee on Economic Development, Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental Protection.

Senator Kerr is a member of the Administrative Regulation Review Subcommittee and is a member of the Central Kentucky Legislative Caucus.

Senator Kerr was selected as one of 40 state leaders from across the nation to participate in the prestigious Toll Fellowship Program sponsored by The Council of State Governments. She is also a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists

Senator Kerr is former vice-chairman of the Kentucky Baptist Home for Children Board of Directors and is a member of P.E.O. Educational Sorority. She is an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington, where she is a member of the Sanctuary Choir and soloist. Senator Kerr earned her bachelor of science degrees in elementary education and vocal music from Western Kentucky University. She also earned her master's degree in higher education from Western.

In addition to her 12 year service in the state senate, she is a faculty member and Director of Academic Advising at Midway College.

She is the mother of two sons, Carson and Jamison, and has one grandson, Case.

She has dedicated her life to serving her community and state through active volunteerism, education, ministry, and public service.
